Wood Badge is a premiere leadership training program for all registered Scout Leaders. You read that right — ALL Scout Leaders. Based around the operation of a troop and its patrols, Wood Badge utilizes contemporary leadership concepts utilized in the corporate world that are relevant to Scouting’s values. Wood Badge will give you tools that you can not only take back to your unit, but also your job, and home.
Woodbadge is next offered in our council 1 weekend in January and 1 in February 2025.
The University of Scouting (UoS) is a fun-filled, hands-on opportunity to network and learn with over 50+ Scouters. This one-day supplemental training event was created for all Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scout leaders, plus Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scout youth regardless of experience. The University of Scouting takes place on a Saturday in November. Be the best leader you can be – attend the next University of Scouting!
Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) is a course designed to complete the required training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters in just one weekend. Our course combines both the IOLS and Scoutmaster Specifics training into one fast-paced weekend of training.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is BSA’s national training program to prepare Cub Scout leaders to take their Cub Scout packs overnight camping. Packs must have a BALOO trained leader present on all overnight campouts. The course also provides a good grounding in Scouting’s Outdoor Program, and helps leaders leverage the Outdoor Program to make their packs stronger and more resilient.

National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
Scouting’s updated, online youth protection training course includes cutting-edge research from top experts in the field of child abuse prevention, covering topics of bullying, neglect, exposure to violence, physical and emotional abuse, and child sexual abuse. These experts help present the content and the course will take about an hour to complete.
This training is required for all Scouting volunteers but is applicable for everyone who works with children. There is no charge and you do not have to be a Scouting volunteer or parent to take the course. You simply create a login at MyScouting.org, which can be for a one-time use.
